In April I rode the half-century course plus five miles due to a wrong turn during the Guacamole Grande in Fallbrook, California. This ride was extremely difficult. The terrain climbed over 4,000 feet during four hours of riding. I am grateful to my strong riding partner that day. Without his encouragement I wouldn't have done as well.
The Guacamole Grande has great views and the best rest stops. All of the SAG stops on the ride offer chips and guacamole in addition to other high carbohydrate items. The Avocado Festival celebrates Fallbrook's most famous fruit and has 40,000 to 50,000 festival visitors each year.
